Conversely ANTIDOTE Essay Contest

Payment Form

If you'd like to pay your contest reading fee via credit card using PayPal, click the button below. You need to have a PayPal account in order to use this payment method (if you don't have a PayPal account, the PayPal website will prompt you to open one—it is a very simple process). Make sure to enter your essay title and reference number in the 'Special Instructions ' box.

More Detail on How it Works:

  • You click on the 'Pay Now' button, above or below

  • You get transferred to PayPal's secure website

  • If you don't have a PayPal account already, you will be prompted to set one up

  • You will be presented with an order form

  • On the order form, the reading fee of $7.50 will already be listed

  • Type in the title of your essay, followed by the reference number we provided you, in the box labeled 'Special Instructions' (What if I don't have a reference number?)

  • Complete the payment procedure by following PayPal's instructions

  • Once your payment is completed, you will be returned to Conversely.

If you prefer to pay by check, send your $7.50 reading fee as a check made out to Conversely, Inc., with the title of your essay and the reference number written on the bottom of the check. (Note: If you are submitting from outside the U.S., please pay via PayPal unless you can submit a check drawn on a US bank.) The address for checks is:

PMB #121
3053 Fillmore St.
San Francisco, CA, 94123-4009

If you have any questions, read our Frequently Asked Questions below, or send us an e-mail to this address.

Frequently Asked Questions About Paying Reading Fees

1. What is the reference number and how do I get one?

We use reference numbers to keep track of payment of reading fees. It makes our life easier and also ensures your payment doesn't get confused with anyone elses.

Reference numbers are only issued for e-mail entries. If you entered by regular mail, then you should have included a check with your entry (see Contest Guidelines, point number 7).

Once we receive your e-mail entry and verify that the text is complete and that all the appropriate information is included (name, phone, address), we will send you a confirmation e-mail with the reference number. At that point you can choose to pay your reading fee by check, or by PayPal. There will be a link in the e-mail bringing you to this page.

If you don't receive a confirmation e-mail with reference number from us within seven days of sending your e-mail submission, assume your entry was lost in cyberspace and try us again.

2. What if I forget to include my reference number in the PayPal payment or on my check?

Well, we will have your name to go by, and also the title of your essay (which should be written on the check). In any case, send us an e-mail to this address and we'll do our best to figure it out.

3. Is payment refundable?

No. Unless for some reason we are unable to read your essay (e.g., the attachment you sent was corrupted and we can't get a good copy from you in time) or your payment comes in after the deadline, in which case we will return checks or reverse PayPal charges.

4. When is payment due?

Your check or PayPal payment must be received by July 31, 2005. (Note that the last day for entries to be received by e-mail is June 30, 2005, and all regular mail entries must be postmarked by June 30, 2005.)
